An estimated 15,000 people gathered on Parliament Hill, Thursday, May 12, 2011 in support of the Prolife cause. Among the throngs were dozens of supportive MPs, Bishops, Religious and thousands of youth from across the province. It is especially gratifying to see so many young people. There is hope.
To Be Born is a short film about a young woman faced with an unplanned pregnancy. Out of fear and pressure from her boy-friend she seeks to have an abortion. In the midst of the procedure, she finds herself in a regrettable situation when she hears her unborn daughter begin to describe the chilling details of what is happening to her. I was present in person to hear Fr. John Paul Leyba deliver this homily. His words brought tears to the eyes of most of the people in attendance at Mass that morning, my own included. The truth of his message and the sincerity of his passion filled me with a sense of shame for being a part of a society capable of killing its most innocent and defenseless members, and for not doing more to combat this evil. As he spoke, I was also overwhelmed with sorrow for all the victims, and their families.
